Amazon launches “Cloud Drive” for on line music storage

In an effort to provide services to the growing use of mobile devices, Amazon launched “Amazon Cloud Drive” on Tuesday to lure customers to store all their music in the “cloud” and retrieve it on any of their mobile devices.

There have already been comments on the legality of the move from music industry insiders who fear losing revenue to the platform.  Amazon claims cloud storage is no different than customers storing files on their own external drives so licensing should not be an issue.  How the legal challenges play out will be interesting but both Google and Apple are developing similar offerings so the train has left the station and everyone will be scrambling to win customers and fend off legal issues in parallel.
