Apple, the largest consumer of semiconductors in 2011

In 2011 Apple spent $ 17.3 billion on semiconductors, a 35% increase from 2010, in second place was Samsung at $ 16.7 billion.

 

Driving that spend were the hugely successful iPhone, iPad and the MacBook Air.

 

HP had long been the leader in semiconductor purchases but the weakening of the PC market reducing their purchases to $ 16.6 billion.
