Endangered Languages Program

Endangered Languages Program

Google, along with the Alliance for Linguistic Diversity, is cataloging 3,000+ languages that may soon be extinct.

Like Wikipedia, this project allows anyone who has information or skills in one of these endangered languages to contribute to the website.

This is a wonderful example of the value of crowd sourcing and reaching out to the world to help capture languages that could virtually vanish from all record.

I personally had no idea how many endangered languages there were, and frankly amazed that there are approximately 6,800 spoken languages being used today!

Visit the site, it is a great experience.
