New manufacturing technology developed by Intel and Micron Technology drives the capacity of NAND flash memory up by as much as 50%.

At 20 nanometers, that is 20 billionths of a meter, flash memory could reach capacities of 128 GB in the size smaller than a postage stamp.

The increased capacity will be a major benefit to mobile devices that continually cram more computing power and data into ever shrinking devices.

Typically as these chips get smaller they become more powerful and actually cost less, a huge factor to adoption in consumer devices.
