Security breach exposes millions to possible email fraud

Epsilon, a marketing firm that handles email marketing for companies like JPMorgan, Chase, Citibank, Target, Walgreens and Marriott was recently hacked and lost millions of email addresses that are directly linked to those organizations.

Sophisticated email fraudsters may use that data, combined with legitimate looking graphics, to scam consumers to revealing sensitive data about themselves and their accounts.

Possibly the largest breach yet, many customers are receiving emails from the companies alerting them of possible fraud.

Always be sure to closely inspect any email message that asks for sensitive data, a good practice is to call the organization’s 800 number to verify they are legitimate.
