Surface, a new era at Microsoft?

With its new product, surface, Microsoft is entering a hardware market space with some daunting challenges.

Surface is a beautiful tablet with a keyboard and nearly identical physical specifications of competing iPads.

Apple owns the tablet market, something north of 60% market share. And there is no questioning the beauty, functionality, elegance and allure of its products.

Microsoft has challenges from all sides on this though. Apple the incumbent and all of its hardware partners who provide the channel for Windows and Office sales.

Technology is a moving target and Microsoft seems to have done a good job with this counter punch – let’s see pricing and production numbers before getting too glowing.
